Did you know? Internships lead to job offers.

Employers extended job offers to more than 70% of their interns in 2006. Internship programs are among the most effective methods for employers to recruit new college graduates.

What are internships?

Internships are a defined progressive learning experience.  They are a great way to gain "real world" experience for building your resume.

Who should do an internship?

Everyone.  Whether it is a requirement of your degree program or not, everyone should participate in at least one internship experience prior to graduation.  Internships are a great way to gain experience, and can help you connect what you are learning in the classroom to the field.

When should I intern?

The best time to start is during your sophomore year.  Many students wait until late into their junior or senior year.  Depending on the intern program that may be too late.

How can I find an internship?

You can register with Career Services for free.

  • You'll be able to post your resume online for intern recruiters to view;

  • 24-hour access to view and apply for internships;

  • 24-hour online access to apply for interviews with recruiters who are visiting campus;

  • Electronic referrals of your resume to appropriate intern recruiters;

  • Online e-Portfolio allows you to upload up to 10 Mbytes of work samples (i.e. .gif, .jpg, .mov, .mpg or .swf files) in addition to a personal website, personal statement and awards.

You can also check out several internship web sites listed as a resource on this page.

What if I need to do an internship for credit?

UCO Career Services does not approve internships for credit.  We are simply a centralized location for finding internships.  Contact your degree program's department chair for credit approval.
